Here’s the latest news and noteworthy items following the Lions’ first preseason game of the 2011 campaign.
- Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson sat out of Sunday’s practice with a bruised shoulder. Lions fans however don’t need to worry as head coach Jim Schwartz acknowledged that the injury is nothing serious and the wide out is listed as day-to-day.
- Lions third string QB Drew Stanton also sat out Sunday’s practice after suffering a punctured elbow during Friday’s preseason opener. The puncture required two stitches.
- The Lions did get some good news Sunday as tight end Brandon Pettigrew returned to practice after tweaking his ankle earlier in the week.
- After pile driving Bengals rookie QB Andy Dalton to the turf Friday, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh could probably expect a fine from the NFL. Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com however believes that Suh will continue to play his game his way.
