It’s officially week two of the seven week, full seven round mock draft! We’ve got some trades, some teams that reach and some guys that fall out of the first round. 32. Cleveland Browns — WR from Ohio State — Michael Thomas — It could be a very offensive driven draft for the Browns. They grab their quarterback and now they grab the best receiver on the board in my opinion. I know Doctson is there but he’s had some injury concerns and I think Thomas has played consistently enough over his last two seasons with the Buckeyes to be the top pick in round two. I think he draws comparisons to Michael Jenkins a former OSU standout who had a very nice 8-year-career.
33. Tennessee Titans — CB from LSU — Jalen Mills — I absolutely love this kid’s highlight tape. I think he’s very underrated and could come into the NFL and make an immediate impact. Normally, cornerbacks struggle in their first year but Mills could be a nice piece for the Titans defense.
34. Dallas Cowboys — QB from Memphis — Paxton Lynch — I don’t think we’ll wait long for the Cowboys to take their next quarterback. They can think that Tony Romo has 4 or 5 years left in his career but the fact that he’s getting a plate put into his collarbone is a never a good thing. Drafting a guy like Paxton Lynch who has some first round talent is a good thing. He can sit back and wait for his chance in Dallas. He’s got a nice deep ball and he might have one of the best vertical threats in the NFL in Dez Bryant.
35. San Diego Chargers — DE/OLB from Georgia — Leonard Floyd — I really like the Chargers draft, thus far. They grab the best defensive back in Jalen Ramsey in the first round and now they grab Leonard Floyd who has incredible ability. At one point, I had Floyd as a top 15 pick but with some work ethic issues, I have him slipping out of the first round. Overall, he won’t wait long for his name to be called on day two.
36. Baltimore Ravens — CB from Houston — William Jackson — I’m officially sold on this kid. He ran very nice at the combine and his highlight tape backs him up. He could slip into the first round and he might be the first cornerback taken off the board on day two. Overall, he slides into a nice spot with the Ravens. Their secondary gets better and he will pair up nicely with Jimmy Smith.
37. San Francisco 49ers — WR from TCU — Josh Doctson — An impressive wide receiver, overall but I’m not as sold on him because of some injury concerns and the offense they ran at TCU. With time, Doctson can be good or a superstar. With the 49ers, he could become a superstar with Torrey Smith taking some pressure off of him in his first couple of seasons. I like the way the 49ers offense is shaping up after their first two selections.
38. Jacksonville Jaguars — DT from Alabama — Jarran Reed — I question Reed’s work ethic and how good he really is with all the talent that is at Alabama. Reed is a day two pick in my opinion, no questions asked. He fills a need for the Jaguars and becomes a depth player for a defensive line that has struggled over the last two seasons.
39. Tampa Bay Buccaneers — DE from Michigan State — Shilque Calhoun — Is it me or do you get that William Gholston vibe with Calhoun? That’s what I feel when I watch Calhoun on tape. I love his technique though and he could play opposite to Gholston in Tampa Bay. Two Spartan rush ends could turn out nicely for the Buc’s.
40. New York Giants — OT from Auburn — Shon Coleman — They’ve got to address their offensive line with players like Schwartz and Beatty being released. They reached on Ereck Flowers last year but he still has a lot of promise. Coleman might be a better fit at the guard position but overall, he fills a need for the Giants who need some offensive line help.
41. **TRADE ALERT** New Orleans Saints (from Chicago) — WR from Ohio State — Braxton Miller — After releasing Marques Colston, I have the Saints moving up to take a guy that’s getting all kinds of praise. Braxton Miller is still very raw but he’s got the potential to be a nice pro. Slotting him next to Brandin Cooks and having Drew Brees throw him the ball could be a recipe for a high scoring offense.
42. Miami Dolphins — ILB from Missouri — Kentrell Brothers — The Dolphins have a need everywhere on their team and could be on the verge of signing DE — Mario Williams. It’s gotten so bad but so good in Miami, that Ndamukong Suh is on the verge of restructuring his contract to free up over $18 million dollars in cap space. Clearly, they made a mistake by signing him. Overall, the Dolphins could use some depth at the linebacker position. They get a guy who could be considered the best inside linebacker in the draft. I love his ability to cover the middle of the field and read the run.
43. Los Angeles Rams — DT from Baylor — Andrew Billings — The Rams already have a lot of talent up front but they let go of Chris Long and are letting Nick Fairley hit the free agent market. Billings gets a lot of praise for his ability and it’s definitely there, sometimes. I think he’s inconsistent and plays too high but he could fit nicely next to Aaron Donald.
44. Oakland Raiders — CB from Virginia Tech — Kendall Fuller — The Raiders pass on their secondary in the first round but need to address it in round two. Fuller has some intriguing skill sets and could slide into the Raiders secondary as an immediate starter. With Charles Woodson no longer on the team, Fuller has the chance of playing FS or CB for the Raiders.
45. Los Angeles Rams — WR from Pittsburgh — Tyler Boyd — The Rams grab their quarterback in the first round and now they need to grab another receiver. Boyd has been creating some first round buzz but I don’t see it, just yet. I think he could move up the draft boards on day two but for now, he’s a possession receiver who slides in perfectly for the Rams.
46. **TRADE ALERT** Houston Texans (from Detroit) — QB from Penn State — Christian Hackenberg — The Texans create some buzz when they move up to grab Christian Hackenberg. I know that Bill O’Brien has stated that he might not be a fan of Hackenberg at the next level but I think if he’s still there, they address a huge need. They need a new starting QB and Hackenberg has a better chance than anybody to become a Texan on draft day.
47. **TRADE ALERT** Chicago Bears (from New Orleans) — CB from Miami (FL) — Artie Burns — The Bears move back in the draft, grab an extra draft pick and they take a need. Artie Burns has incredible athletic ability but he’s extremely raw. He plays high at times and makes some unnecessary penalties in coverage. I still believe he has second round ability and could become a nice piece next to Kyle Fuller, their number one cornerback.
48. Indianapolis Colts — DE from Florida — Jonathan Bullard — I think Bullard checks the boxes to be a first rounder. Overall, he didn’t have the best combine and was just kind of there. He’s powerful and fits in any scheme. Getting drafted by the Colts fills a huge need for a team that has had a hard time generating pressures on the quarterback. Bullard will change that.
49. Buffalo Bills — OLB from Ohio State — Joshua Perry — It’s just always one of those things for the Bills. They always have so many needs and can never address them properly. Hopefully, for them, they change that with this pick. Perry has helped himself be a sure thing for a round two selection. He could come in and slide into a starting role, right away for the Bills. Whether they have him come off the edge on a blitz or as someone that covers a tight end, I think Perry can do that for Rex Ryan and his defense.
50. Atlanta Falcons — WR from Oklahoma — Sterling Shepard — After the Falcons cut longtime receiver, Roddy White. The Falcons have made it obvious that they need another receiver. Shepard is a smooth athlete that would compliment Julio Jones nicely.
51. New York Jets — TE from Arkansas — Hunter Henry — I’d be shocked if he’s still available at 51 but wackier things have happened on draft day. Overall, the Jets address two big needs on offense from their OL to the TE position. Jace Amaro hasn’t been healthy enough for the team in his first two years in the NFL, it’s time to upgrade that position. Henry makes perfect sense for the Jets who lack a red zone threat at TE.
52. **TRADE ALERT** Detroit Lions (from Houston) — WR from Colorado State — Rashard Higgins — The Lions trade down and take someone that I’ve been extremely high on. Higgins is a guy that will go up and get the ball, no matter what. He won’t be as good as Calvin Johnson but he’ll fit nicely next to Golen Tate. Matthew Stafford could develop a nice duo of receivers in Higgins and Tate.
53. Washington Redskins — DT from Louisana Tech — Vernon Butler — After passing on a defensive lineman in the first round, the Redskins take one here. Vernon Butler has been creating a lot of draft buzz over the last couple of weeks and he could go before this. Right now, I’m sold for him to be a mid second rounder. Butler doesn’t do anything great but doesn’t do much wrong. He can play high at times and gets caught in the ground with a slow burst off the line. Overall, he’s got the talent to become a starter in the NFL.
54. Minnesota Vikings — OG from LSU — Vadal Alexander — The Vikings need some depth on their offensive line. Alexander has been considered a player who needs to improve his work ethic before getting taken any sooner than this. Right now, he’s a right guard and will fit nicely next to TJ Clemmings on the right side of their line of scrimmage.
55. Cincinnati Bengals — DT from Penn State — Austin Johnson — The Bengals could use some players at linebacker but need some depth up front. Johnson has a very nice skill set but I think he’s slow off the ball. He isn’t much of a pass rusher and didn’t look like a fluid athlete at the combine. Overall, he can take his time to develop with Geno Atkins in front of him.
56. Seattle Seahawks — OG from North Carolina — Landon Turner — I really like what I’ve seen from Landon Turner. I think he could become one of the better guards in this draft but overall, the Seahawks will re-sign Russell Okung and get Turner to improve their offensive line. He’s more of a run blocker but Turner will develop into a pass blocker for Russell Wilson.
57. Green Bay Packers — OLB from USC — Su’a Cravens — The Packers don’t have a huge need at the linebacker position but Cravens could come in and wait in the wings over the next year or two. Especially with a guy like Julius Peppers who hasn’t decided when he’ll retire.
58. Pittsburgh Steelers — CB from Baylor — Xavien Howard — After addressing their need on their offensive line with their first round pick, the Steelers take the obvious. They need a cornerback in their defense and Howard has the ability to be a really good cover corner in year two of his career. He’ll have some speed bumps in year one but I think he’s a perfect fit for the aggressive Steeler defense.
59. Kansas City Chiefs — DE from Clemson — Kevin Dodd — it’s hard to believe in Dodd’s ability because of the players he’s played next too (Vic Beasley & Shaq Lawson). He’s more of a run stopper than a pass rusher but he could fit nicely into the Chiefs defensive line unit. Especially with a guy like Jaye Howard set to hit free agency.
60. New England Patriots — WR from South Carolina — Pharoh Cooper — Not the biggest receiver on the field but he’s certainly a vertical threat. Cooper can go deep and boost his value in the special teams. After the Patriots cut Brandon LaFell and had issues with being healthy at the receiver position, they address a huge need with adding Cooper.
61. Arizona Cardinals — DE from Penn State — Carl Nassib — The Cardinals have a need for an edge rusher and that’s what Nassib is. He’s one of the most underrated talents in this draft. Nassib has drawn some JJ Watt comparisons and I think that’s bit of a stretch. Overall, he’s fluid hips and has a nice burst off the line of scrimmage. Nassib could develop into an All-Pro for the Cardinals, down the line.
62. Carolina Panthers — OT from Texas A&M — Germain Ifedi — The Panthers got really lucky with their offensive line play for most of the regular season but they played poorly in the Super Bowl. You can never go wrong with drafting an offensive lineman because it’s where you need the most depth, at times. Ifedi is a player that can transition nicely into a right tackle for the Panthers down the line.
63. Denver Broncos — DT from Ohio State — Adolphus Washington — If Malik Jackson does hit the free agent market, the Broncos are going to need to find a way to replace him. Washington is simply the best defensive line prospect on the board and could transition nicely for the Broncos in their 3-4 defense. Especially with Wade Phillips as his coach.
