It’s official, A.J. Hinch is the new manager of the Detroit Tigers.

Just days after the conclusion of the World Series which marked the end of Hinch’s yearlong suspension for the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal, Detroit will give the manager a second chance at redemption with a “multi-year” deal.

Obviously, Hinch’s hire won’t come without controversy, especially with the baseball purists and traditionalists out there who have had a problem with the way Fernando Rodney wore his hat.

In his report on the sign-stealing scandal, Rob Manfred concluded that Hinch wasn’t the mastermind behind the scheme nor did he approve of it. Hinch was ultimately suspended because he didn’t do enough to stop it which is fine, I still don’t think that takes away entirely from the overwhelming success he’s had as an MLB manager. Not to mention Hinch lost his job with the Astros, served his time with the suspension, and if it wasn’t the Tigers giving him a second chance (which he deserves at this point) it would be some other team banking off his skill as a manager. Meanwhile, the same Detroit fans decrying Hinch as a “cheater” would be the same fans bitching when Marcus Thames sees the team to another year of not being competitive to make the playoffs.

If Hinch sexually assaulted women and/or was some racist and bigot that would be one thing. I’m not going to cancel the guy out though for a baseball cheating scandal that he did his time for.

Welcome to Detroit Hinch, now lets go get shit done.
