Things aren’t looking up for the Tigers right now. They fucking suck on the field, their immediate future looks pretty bleak and now there are allegations of a racially hostile work environment within the confines of Comerica Park.
In a series of tweets posted late Thursday night, Detroit Sports Rag’s Jeff Moss brought to light accusations from a former Detroit Tigers clubhouse attendant, Derrell Coleman, who has filed a lawsuit against the team for ‘race discrimination’ and subjecting him to a ‘racially hostile environment’. This all stems from former pitching coach Chris Bosio — who is also named as a defendant in the suit — allegedly making racially insensitive remarks towards a Tigers employee (presumably Coleman) which included calling him a ‘monkey’. Moreover, according to the documents posted by Moss, these remarks by Bosio also allegedly included the former pitching coach telling Coleman that he would ‘skin him the fuck alive’ after a locker room prank that Bosio obviously didn’t take lightly.
Bosio was fired by the Tigers in June of last year over the alleged remarks something he says he was ‘crushed’ by.
As of now according to the filing, it looks like there’s a status conference scheduled for October 24, 2010, that is unless the Tigers open up the checkbook to make this go away, or at least as best they can.
