Wednesday new Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman swung a deal with his old team the Tampa Bay Lighting acquiring forward Adam Erne in exchange for a 2020 fourth round draft pick.

The Lightning apparently were not interested in offering the 24-year-old, restricted free agent a contract with Brayden Point still needing to be signed.

Meanwhile, Erne now becomes the long RFA on the roster still in need of a contract ahead of the 2019-20 season.

The former second-round draft pick (33rd overall), Erne spent parts of three season with the Lightning totaling 13 assists in 65 games for Tampa Bay in 2018-19.
