American Joey Chestnut won his 5th consecutive mustard yellow belt at the 2011 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Prior to the contest, Chestnut told ESPN sideline reporter and former NFL cheerleader Renee Herlocker,  “I feel like a big hungry American eating machine.”

Chestnut went on to eat 62 hot dogs falling 6 dogs short of his personal record.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Kobayashi, Chestnut’s arch nemesis, at 69 hotdogs on a New York City rooftop. If this report is in fact true it would be a world record.

I think the ridiculous thing here is that ESPN will cover poker tournaments and eating contests yet their NHL coverage is embarrassing.
