The Lions and Ziggy Ansah are setting themselves up for one final season together in 2018.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Detroit and Ansah will be unable to reach an agreement for franchise tagged players before Monday’s deadline paving the way for the former BYU defensive end to become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming year.
Detroit and Lions’ franchised DE Ziggy Ansah will not reach a deal by Monday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline to sign franchise players, per league sources. Ansah’s contract will expire after this season, and he will be scheduled to become a free agent.

Despite the injury problems Ansah has recently suffered through he’s been rather productive recording 44 solo tackles and 12 sacks this past season, his fifth with the Lions.
