Despite Pablo Sandoval’s historic game one and the presence of superstars like Justin Verlander, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and Buster Posey, ratings so far for this year’s World Series have been low.
According to The Big Lead, ratings for Game 1 and Game 2 had an 8.8 overnight rating which is the lowest recorded rating for a Game 1 in World Series history while Game 2 ratings were down from last years matchup between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals. Two things that though could’ve been working against Major League Baseball last night was the Vikings/Buccaneers game on the NFL Network and a college football game on ESPN.
It also may be important to note that Minnesota and Tampa are top 20 television markets coming in at 13th and 15th respectively however it still seems pretty pathetic given the assumed magnitude of an event like the World Series.
