With the Lions locking down Taylor Decker with a contract extension, Detroit will now reportedly look towards extending wide receiver Kenny Golladay with a new deal as he enters the final year of his contract. This according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network who states that the two sides haven’t begun talking but that discussions could start up soon.

Obviously this looks like a no nothing type of story with Rapoport giving opinion rather than fact. But it’s definitely something for Lions fans to keep on their radar with the regular season about a week away. It’s also something for Lions fans to potentially worry about the longer it takes for the two sides to strike a deal. Nonetheless, Detroit seems like they’re in an extending mood given the money they’ve committed to Decker.

Quietly, Golladay has become one of the top receivers in the NFL recording the seventh-most receiving yards with 1,190, the third-highest yards per reception average with 18.3, and the most receiving touchdowns with 11. On top of everything too, Golladay was a standout in the League with his touchdown numbers becoming one of three NFL players in 2019 to net himself double-digit TD catches.
