According to Chris Iott of Mlive.com, Pistons’ forward Charlie Villanueva had to be restrained by police after being ejected during the Pistons’ 110-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night at The Palace.
Apparently the situation started when Villanueva became locked up with Cleveland’s Ryan Hollins at the 5:47 mark in the 4th quarter. Moments later the two were ejected from the game and Villanueva tried to get at Hollins before he was forced into the tunnel by Rodney Stuckey and head of security Jerry Hendon. As Villanueva made his way into the tunnel he motioned to Hollins as if he wanted to meet him in the locker room.
Now according to witnesses once in the locker room, Villanueva raced out of the Pistons’ dressing room and towards the Cleveland locker room. In the process of doing this Villanueva also reportedly yelled “I’m going to kill that dude.” Auburn Hills Police and Pistons assistant head coach Ryan Hoover stepped in and restrained Villanueva in a loading dock area between the locker rooms and led Villanueva back to the Pistons locker room.
Villanueva will more than likely face some sort of league discipline over the matter.
