After missing a month due to injury, Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur made his return between the pipes making an impact that New Jersey probably wasn’t expecting. Sure he can still light it up in the crease but what about lighting the lamp on the other end of the ice?

During the first period of tonight’s game against the Hurricanes, a delayed penalty penalty call against the Devils sent Carolina goaltender Dan Ellis to the bench for the extra attacker. However as Hurricanes center Jordan Staal attempted to make a cross ice pass the puck ended up getting away making a perfect deflection off the boards and into the Carolina empty net.

Yeah Brodeur didn’t go end-to-end for the goal but since he was the last New Jersey player to touch the puck he was given credit for it which is his third career (2 in the regular season and 1 in the playoffs).

Not to mention Brodeur now has one more goal than Alex Goligoski and Ryane Clowe.
