Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated reported the news that Turner would be called up via his Twitter account in the early hours this morning.

Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reported late this morning that Turner would start for the Tigers tonight when they face the Los Angeles Angels.

As of 10 AM the Tigers said they haven’t made any roster moves.

Turner who is widely considered one of the top pitching prospects in baseball has been mentioned in recent trade talks as the Tigers look for another arm to add to their starting rotation.

Turner is 3-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 17 starts for Erie this season. He has struck out 90 in 113 2/3 innings. Opposing batters are hitting .239 against him.

UPDATE: Danny Knobler tweets that the start for Turner is NOT a showcase and that the Tigers intend to keep him.
