The news coming out about the Lions’ running back situation continues to break.

Earlier in the week it was reported that RB Jahvid Best suffered his second concussion of the season this past weekend against San Francisco. Tuesday it was announced that the Lions executed a trade for Philadelphia’s Ronnie Brown for Jerome Harrison and a 7th round pick in 2013. Wednesday evening news broke that the trade between the Lions and Eagles was voided because Jerome Harrison failed his physical for then unknown reasons. Then Thursday morning CBS Sports’ Mike Freeman was saying that Jahvid Best was advised to sit out the rest of the season due to his concussions.

Now ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Twitter) is reporting that the physical Harrison failed in Philadelphia may have saved his (Harrison) life…

Without trade, Jerome Harrison doesn’t get physical. Without physical, doctors don’t find brain tumor. Trade might have saved his life.

There has been no confirmation on this from the Lions or Eagles. Lions head coach Jim Schwartz did say the matter is private and didn’t comment further.

Furthermore Schefter did say that Harrison will not play for the rest of the season but his prognosis in terms of his long-term health and career in the NFL is good.

Obviously we here at TMSNX wish Harrison a full and speedy recovery.
