According to Steve Kornacki of Mlive.com, Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya will begin throwing soon after being shut down for four weeks after experiencing soreness in his elbow and forearm.

“Right now, he feels real good,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. “But he’s not throwing 98 mph. He feels better, with no pain, and will begin to throw soon. When I see him out on the mound, I am going to be very happy. It’s going to happen, but I can’t say when it’s going to happen.”

Zumaya only appeared in one spring training game this year on February 27th. He will start the season on the disabled list.
