According to Steve Kornacki of Mlive.com, Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya will begin throwing soon after being shut down for four weeks after experiencing soreness in his elbow and forearm.

β€œRight now, he feels real good,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. β€œBut he’s not throwing 98 mph. He feels better, with no pain, and will begin to throw soon. When I see him out on the mound, I am going to be very happy. It’s going to happen, but I can’t say when it’s going to happen.”

Zumaya only appeared in one spring training game this year on February 27th. He will start the season on the disabled list.
