Monday the Tigers announced that they’ve outrighted the contracts of pitcher Brad Thomas and catcher Omir Santos to Toledo.

According to Chris Iott of Mlive.com, the move clears the way for both players to become free agents and sign with any team when the free agency period in the MLB begins on Thursday at 12:01 AM ET.

Thomas was largely ineffective for the Tigers in limited time posting a  0-1 record with a 9.00 ERA in 12 appearances. He spent most of the season on the DL with elbow inflammation.

Santos hit .227 (5-for-22) in 11 games with the Tigers. He spent most of his time in Toledo hitting .245 (37-for-151) with two home runs and 16 RBIs in 49 games. Santos was a late season call up for the Tigers when the rosters expanded and served as Alex Avila’s backup in the postseason. He didn’t play in any games however.
