Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports on Twitter that the Tigers have shown some interest in veterans Hideki Matsui and Raul Ibanez to replace Victor Martinez who will likely be gone for the entire 2012 season.

The Tigers have also reportedly expressed interest in free agent veteran Johnny Damon who played with the team back in 2010 as well as Juan Pierre.

The club reportedly likes hitters that can bat from the left side however may also consider Vladimir Guerrero, Magglio Ordonez and/or Derrek Lee.

Knobler also writes that the Tigers have shown interest in Roy Oswalt to fill an open spot in the rotation. Knobler though goes on to say it’s unlikely the Tigers actually make a move and acquire Oswalt.

Bobby Abreu trade in the works?

Late Sunday night it was being rumored that the Tigers were getting ready to complete a deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to acquire veteran outfielder Bobby Abreu.

Although it got a little bit of steam in the Twitter realm, Lynn Henning of the Detroit News tweeted Monday morning that the Tigers weren’t interested in getting Abreu in the past (for unknown reasons) and probably wouldn’t be interested in getting him now.
