According to James Jahnke of the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers appear to be interested in Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes, a player who’s beginning to become very well-known on the internet for his 20 minute YouTube video.

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal wrote that the Tigers, Florida Marlins, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals had a “significant presence” at Cespedes’ workout this past Friday in the Dominican Republic.

There is some speculation surrounding how old Cespedes is. The claim is he is 26 years of age however there have been some players in the past who have actually been older than their listed age. With that aside though, Cespedes who primarily plays center field hit .333 with 33 homers and 99 RBIs in 90 games in the Cuban league last season.

The next question is how much would it take to sign Cespedes to a contract? The Free Press anticipates that it may be somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 million dollars. That $30 million is the same figure that another notable Cuban defector Aroldis Chapman got from the Reds when he made the jump to the MLB.
