According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle’s twitter page, the Tigers are attempting to “make a strong push” for Athletics left hander Gio Gonzalez. However Slusser goes on to say that the Tigers’ brass are unsure whether or not they’ll be able to match the Yankees’ proposal.

As of right now, the Athletics as have asked the Yankees for Jesus Montero plus either Dellin Betances or Manny Banuelos in exchange for Gonzalez writes Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record.

It’s certainly a high price that Oakland is asking for from the Yankees which makes it unlikely that a deal between the Bombers and A’s will happen. At this point it’s also unknown who Oakland is asking for from the Tigers however the A’s have been known to covet young outfielders according Luke Adams of MLBTradeRumors.com.
