The Tigers apparently will not be going after Mets shortstop Jose Reyes

The Tigers figure to be buyers come the trade deadline to help them make a run at the AL Central Division title. One thing that won’t happen is the Tigers fixing every problem they have on their roster come the trade deadline so they’re going to have to pick and choose.

But who and what position do they go after?

A big name that has been thrown around is Mets shortstop Jose Reyes however Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com writes that the Tigers will go after pitching and not Jose Reyes.

According to Morosi, Tigers officials are happy with the offensive production the team has put fourth in June scoring 139 runs, the second most in the American League. The Tiger are also counting on Carlos Guillen making a return to the lineup sometime after the All-Star Break. As of Friday he was brought up to Triple-A Toledo from Class-A Lakeland. Keep in mind too Reyes will be a free agent at the end of the season so essentially he will be a rent-a-player that will cost some high end prospects.

As far as pitching goes, the team does have question marks at the end of the rotation with Phil Coke recently being placed back in the bullpen after failing to lock down a rotation spot for himself. The team will give Charlie Furbush a shot in the rotation. He has primarily been a reliever while up with the Tigers but did start during his time with Triple-A Toledo.
