We’ve heard the past few weeks that the Tigers were really going to start prioritizing pitching come the trade deadline and with that said the Tigers may be prioritizing individual pitchers as well.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.net, the Tigers have been scouting Dodgers right-hander Hiroki Kuroda’s recent starts and have significant interest in him. Morosi goes on to say that the Tigers are keener on Kuroda more so than Wandy Rodriguez, Brett Myers, Jeff Francis and Ryan Dempster.

Kuroda, whose gone 6-10 with a 3.06 ERA in the first half is Los Angeles’ top trade chip. He is owed roughly around $5.5 million for the remainder of the season and will become a free agent at the end of the season. He does have a full no-trade clause which could complicate things for the Tigers and Dodgers come the deadline.

Lastly, Morosi states that the Tigers are unlikely to pursue Seattle’s Erik Bedard given the fact that Detroit traded for another Seattle starter in Jerrod Washburn last season. That trade didn’t work out in large part due to Washburn’s injuries at the end of the season.

Erik Bedard is currently on the DL for Seattle.
