The Tigers announced today that the team has signed OF Timo Perez to a minor league contract. According to the Detroit News, Perez will not be at the Major League camp however it isn’t uncommon for players to come over from the Tiger Town Complex once exhibition play begins.

Perez (35) hit .389 for the Tigers in 2007 and most recently his .323 for Veracruz Mexico in 2009.

Perez was last with the Tigers organization in 2008 when he played for the teams farm system the Toledo Mudhens. He has also played for the White Sox, Cardinals and Mets throughout his career.
