In the wake of WrestleMania 37, the WWE has made a significant round of cuts to their roster some of which include pretty prominent names.

Earlier today, WWE announced the release of Mickie James, Billie Kay, Chelsea Green, Kalisto, Wesley Blake, and Tucker but then followed up with a second-round that included Samoa Joe, Peyton Royce, and Bo Dallas.

A number of releases were part of WrestleMania week and the actual event itself this past weekend. Kalisto and Tucker were part of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal on last Friday’s Smackdown while Billie Kay took part in a gauntlet match with Carmella for the right to face Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the women’s tag title Saturday night at WrestleMania.

Samoa Joe was also part of the WrestleMania commentary team but replaced on Monday by Corey Graves and newcomer Adnan Virk.

Needless to say the Peyton Royce and Samoa Joe departures are probably the most surprising. Despite his battle with injuries during the majority of his time with WWE, Joe was actually one of the better commentators for the company so you have to wonder if both sides mutually agreed to part ways if there were some disagreements on the future of Joe’s character.

As far as Peyton Royce goes, the break up of the IIconics led many to believe that Royce was going to get a singles push. However, as a result, the WWE decided to pair Billie Kay with Carmella, a nonsensical move considering Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were certainly one of the more formidable women’s tag teams in the entire company. Nonetheless this is the arbitrary decision making we tend to get from Vince McMahon more often than not.
