If you’re a Tigers fan you’re more than likely already looking ahead to next season at this point which on that notion, I’ve got some good news for you… the 2019 schedule has dropped!
Notably the Tigers won’t have any issues with opening series weather issues as they’ll begin the year playing under the dome of the Rogers Centre against the Blue Jays. From there the MLB continued their unusual early season scheduling that very well could result in a weather issue when they take on the Yankees on the road before coming back to Detroit for their home opener against the Royals on April 4th.
Now if there’s any further indication Major League Baseball hasn’t learned their lesson when it comes to teams in northern cities having trouble with outdoor games, the Tigers don’t play a southern or west coast team until May 31st when they opening up a three game series against the Braves. By that time I’m sure there won’t be any further threat of snow coming down or 20 degree temps.
Speaking of the Braves, they’ll be one of the six NL teams Detroit will play this season. The others include the Mets, Marlins, Phillies, Braves and Nationals.
Other notes for 2019, the Tigers and Royals will be in Omaha, Nebraska to help kick off the College World Series which will mark the first time an MLB regular season game has been played in that state.
The All-Star Game will also take place on July 9th in Cleveland.
