Tigers

When you’re a rebuilding team like the Tigers, it’s never too early to start discussing trade scenarios and inquiry regarding certain players.

That seems to be the case when comes to lefty starter Francisco Liriano according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today who tweeted that the Tigers are ‘already are getting inquiries from teams who have expressed strong interest when the Tigers decide to move him.’

Interestingly enough were Nightengale’s choice of words, ‘when the Tigers decide to move him’.

After a gem of an outing Sunday against the Mariners where the 34-year-old went eight innings of one hit baseball. This included no runs, five strikeouts and three walks. This added to an already impressive stat line for the 13-year MLB veteran who’s accumulated a 3-1 record with a 3.42 ERA in 52 2/3 innings. Moreover Liriano’s ERA+ is 131 which is his best mark since his 2006 season with the Twins which comes despite a walk rate of 4.4 per nine.

Liriano signed a one-year contract with the Tigers this past offseason.
