Detroit

Tuesday, the Red Wings announced that forward Michael Rasmussen inked a four-year contract extension with a $3.2 average annual value.

After a slow start to his professional career, Rasmussen has really come into his own with Detroit scoring 36 of his 47 career goals within the last three seasons, including 11 so far this year. Rasmussen has also secured 43 of his 62 career assists during that same period. Although he hasn’t quite lived up to first-round billing, Rasmussen is one of the few bright spots for the Red Wings when it comes to late Ken Holland-era draft picks.
