Markieff Morris and the Pistons have agreed on a buyout according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium as Detroit continues to deconstruct their roster.
Morris was the second Piston this week to negotiate a buyout with the team following guard Reggie Jackson who signed with the Clippers yesterday.
And Morris — like Jackson — is expected to land in LA, only with the Lakers who Shams also reported are the favorites to sign the soon-to-be free agent.
Having been quiet just before the trade deadline, and with retired point guard Darren Collison opting to remain retired, the Lakers are expected to be active in the buyout market.
Averaging 11.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 22.5 minutes per game over 44 contests this season, Morris signed a two-year deal with the Pistons last offseason with a player option for 2020-21.
