The UM football team certainly has its share of issues going into this season. A coach that seems to be linked to every single NCAA allegation coming out, uncertainty with the starting QB and a defense that seems to be the college equivalent of the Detroit Lions defense. All this too going for a team that needs to do well in order to keep a coach (Rich Rodriguez) who in his third season with the team should show that he is making progress. However, Angelique S. Chengelis of the Detroit News writes that of all the questions surrounding the UM football team their offensive line is the least of their worries. She points out that the offensive line, which is the strongest part of the team, will be getting a boost with the return of center David Molk who is fully recovered and healthy after knee surgery, and Stephen Schilling, who has started the last three years, at tackle for two years, and, last year, at guard.

“I think they are growing up,” Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said in Chicago at the Big Ten media days. “Some of the guys have been playing as 18-, 19-year-old boys and they growing up to be 20-year-old men. We have got a good group of seniors that help up front led by Schilling and David Molk is healthy, which is a big key for us because we think he is an outstanding player. We’ve got some more depth, (so) if something happens to a guy, we put somebody in that has got a little bit of experience anyway.”
