Veteran free agent wide receiver Jermaine Kearse has signed a deal with the Detroit Lions reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Terms of the deal haven’t been disclosed however sources have indicated to Schefter that it is a one-year deal.

As the monetary value it still unknown, you can probably assume Kearse’s deal came at somewhat of a discount for the Lions considering the veteran suffered his worst season as a pro in 2018.

Via ESPN:

Kearse, who turned 29 in February, is coming off the most disappointing of his eight NFL seasons. He finished with only 37 receptions for 371 yards and a touchdown for the New York Jets as the team struggled for most of the season under rookie quarterback Sam Darnold.

Kearse, who’s spent eight seasons in the NFL made $5 million last season with the Jets while playing in 23 of the team’s offensive snaps.

Depending on how the money looks, this could end up being a pretty good deal for Detroit. Kearse whose 2018 could have very well been an attribute of a rookie QB and offensive coordinator who was looking in a different direction was extremely productive just one year prior. In 2017 Kearse put up career numbers in catches (65) and yards (810) while working with another OC in John Morton. The veteran too, who had become synonymous with clutch play in the postseason will also be reunited with his former OC in Seattle Darrell Bevell.
