Another piece of the New York Jets’ perceived big 2023 summer can officially be marked off as a wash.

Tuesday, Dalvin Cook’s agents at LAA Sports announced that their client and the Jets have mutually agreed to part ways with the hope of the veteran back catching on with another team ahead of the playoffs.

With the move, Cook will forfeit the remaining guaranteed money on his contract this year which rounds out to roughly $5.8 million.

Cook’s release is just another example of everything that went wrong for the Jets this season starting with Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending Achilles injury in the first game of the season. After signing this past offseason, Cook managed just 67 carries for 214 yards and 15 catches for 78 yards — a far cry from his four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with Minnesota before hitting free agency.
