According to Tom Leyden of the WXYT Detroit, the NHL has named former Detroit Red Wings captain and current Tampa Bay Lighting GM Steve Yzerman as a finalist for the NHL general manager of the year.
Yzerman who spent his entire career playing for the Red Wings worked as a vice president under Red Wings general manager Ken Holland from 2006-2010. He also took the reins of general manager for Team Canada in the 2010 Olympics where he constructed a team that went on to win the gold medal.
