Perhaps it’s anger over their team moving to Brooklyn.

Maybe it’s anger over their team being irrelevant for almost thirty years.

Or maybe Sidney Crosby is just that hated around the NHL.

Tuesday night, the NHL’s poster boy Crosby took a puck to the face while his Penguins were in Long Island to take on the Islanders. The play itself was unintentional and clearly an accident as the puck found a perfect path up to Crosby’s mug. Upon being hit the Pittsburgh captain fell immediately to the ground as blood (and probably teeth) poured from his face. And while being helped off the ice by Penguins trainers the fans at NVMC began to cheer (mockingly) while getting the now famous “Crosby Sucks” chant going.

Now I’m not a Crosby fan, in fact I despise the the guy too. But this is something you simply shouldn’t do as a fan. Show some class Long Island.

By the way the Penguins went on to win the game 4-1 with Crosby collecting an assist.
