It was the Club over the “Brand” tonight as the Detroit City FC took a big step forward in their quest for the NPSL Members Cup with a 2-1 road win over the New York Cosmos Saturday night.
Cyrus Saydee got City on the board early with a goal in the 8′ with Yazeed Matthews getting the eventual game winner in the 30′.
Matt Lewis got the lone Cosmos goal in the 82′ minute as Detroit managed to weather an onslaught of shots from New York which outshot Le Rouge 20-3.
Detroit can clinch the Members Cup Wednesday when they take on the Michigan Stars FC Wednesday from Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. DCFC plays their
