According to Bleacher Report’s Ian Wharton, the Indianapolis Colts are making a serious run at Nick Fairley. If Fairley joins Ndamukong Suh departing in free agency, this would leave the Lions without their 2010 and 2011 first round picks with nothing to show for it.
As for Nick Fairley’s next home, I’ve heard the #Colts are offering around double the guaranteed money as anyone else.

This wouldn’t be an absolute tragedy considering how loaded the free agent market is with Defensive Tackles. The only tragedy would be if the Lions can’t acquire the services of at least one of the free agent defensive tackles and come away with a winner in the NFL draft.
Nick Fairley is on every NFL pundits list of riskiest free agents to sign, so I cannot one hundred percent blame the Lions if they don’t want to get in a bidding war for a player who’s had legal trouble, injury history, and issues with consistency. However, the Lions cannot afford to mess this off-season up. Because of other expensive contracts and young players that soon need to be paid, their championship window, if one exists at all, is closing fast.
