As of 10:00AM ET Thursday Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was not on the field for the Tigers’ morning workouts however according to the Detroit News and James Schmehl of Mlive.com he could report as early as today.

According to the original report, Cabrera’s agent Fernando Cruz met with Tigers officials including team president Dave Dombrowski around 6:30PM ET. The meeting was said to be long and could be an indication that Cabrera would arrive to camp sometime Thursday.

Both Cruz and Dombrowski declined comment.

After being arrested late on February 16th for DUI and resisting arrest without violence Cabrera has been undergoing treatment and medical evaluations for alcohol and wont be able to return until he has been cleared by doctors. It is also unclear whether or not Cabrera has been evaluated by Tigers physicians.

“I don’t set the program,” Dombrowski previously said of Major League Baseball’s involvement. “The regular season is a ways away. Most are 30-day programs.”
