The news after last night’s 22-20 overtime loss to the Dolphins just keeps getting worse for the Bengals.

Today the team confirmed that defensive lineman Geno Atkins suffered a torn ACL during last night’s game and will undoubtedly be out for the rest of the season.

Atkins suffered the injury in the second quarter when his leg got caught underneath a pile of players forcing his knee to get twisted up. Atkins eventually walked off the field with the help of two teammates and was thought to return later on in the game. However Atkins was eventually carted off with 4:35 left in a half and ruled out for the rest of the game.

This is obviously a huge blow to the Cincinnati defense who just lost Pro Bowl corner Leon Hall to a torn Achilles in a 27-24 Week 7 win in Detroit. Atkins also led the Bengals in sacks with 5 heading into Thursday night where he added one more to his total in the first quarter.
