Dom Raiola says he’s innocent. Believe him if you want to, but needless to say, I don’t. Regardless what Dominic Raoila says, he’s been found guilty by the NFL for stomping on an opponents ankle and will be suspended for one game.
“I did not try to stomp on his ankle. I am not going to try to take somebody out of the game. I apologized at the end of the game and he accepted my apology. That’s it.” – Raiola as quoted by the Chicago Tribune
Pro Football Talk is reporting that Detroit Lions starting Center Dominic Raiola has been suspended for the week 17 match up with the Green Bay Packers after what the NFL has deemed as an intentional stomp on a Chicago Bears’ Defensive Lineman Ego Ferguson’s ankle.
This isn’t the first time he has been disciplined by the NFL for his on field conduct this season. He was fined $10,000 following the Lions loss to the New England Patriots for cut blocking Vince Wilfork on a kneel down.
Take a look for yourself and see what you think.
Travis Swanson, this year’s third round pick will likely make his debut at Center after starting at Right Guard for an injured Larry Warford earlier in the year. The Lions will now be playing with two reserves on the offensive line regardless of who steps in at Center. Right Tackle LaAdrian Waddle has been placed on season ending I.R. with a knee injury.
