Despite 2020 being a shit show in the the most general sense, the second half of the year has been pretty good to Arsenal is the most shallow sense.

Right now I’m looking at Arsenal winning the FA Cup last month, promoting Mikel Arteta, looking good on the pitch, and now locking down their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to a new three-year extension.

Obviously you can see the importance of getting Arteta a bigger role within the Club given the relationship he’s developed with the team’s best player. It’s almost a complete one-eighty for Aubameyang who seemed like he already had one foot out the door in the waning days of the short-lived Unai Emery era.

BBC Sport:

“It was important for Pierre-Emerick to stay with us,” said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

“He’s a superb player with an incredible mentality. Being the player to have taken the least amount of time to reach 50 goals with this club tells you everything you need to know about him and his way of working.

“He’s an important leader for the team and a big part of what we’re building. He wants to be up there with the best players in the world and leave his mark. He can achieve that here.”
