The new book coming out this week “Paterno” the biography about legendary(?) coach Joe Paterno has been quoted in many stories so far since its release to the media.
We’ve heard about him crying after being fired and learned that he didn’t even know what some of the words meant that Sandusky was being charged of, but reporter Bob Flounders of the Harrisburg Patriot-News says that Paterno wanted to withdraw from the Big Ten.
The reasoning was after the Michigan game back in 2005 that officials put two-seconds back on the clock and allowed Michigan quarterback Chad Henne to throw the game winning touchdown in a 27-25 game. That loss was the only one in a 11-1 season and Paterno was so furious over the decision he wanted to pull Penn State out of the Big Ten.
Flounders piece is a good read and “Paterno” should be a heavily reviewed book about the life of one of the most controversial figures in all of sports. The book hits newsstands on Tuesday and will most likely be worth the read to anyone who has an interest in the Penn State saga.
