As the Devils cleaned out their lockers after a Game 6 loss to the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup final, free agent to-be Zach Parise spoke to reporters indicating that he would like to return to the Devils next season.
βI like the people here,β Parise said in the Bergen Recordβs Fire and Ice blog. βI like the staff, my teammates. I like the area. Thereβs a lot of good things about this place.β
Parise also made it known that he has no intentions of signing with New Jerseyβs arch rival New York Rangers.
After spending several seasons with the Devils itβs not surprising in the least bit that Parise says he would like to remain with the only NHL team heβs ever known. But the fact of the matter is heβs in line to get what could be the biggest contract heβll ever receiver in his career and given the Devilsβ ownership situation, it doesnβt seem likely theyβll have the resources to bring him back.
The Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild remain the biggest players for Parise this offseason.
