Orange County SC

With the start of the season less than seven weeks away, Orange County SC made another move to bolster its roster adding midfielder Ashish Chattha to the fold.

Ironically enough, the 23-year-old will begin his 2023 rookie season in the same city his amateur career came to end after spending his junior and sophomore seasons with UCI where he started in 35 matches for the Anteaters throughout 38 appearances. Before transferring to UCI, Chattha played in thirty matches for the University of San Francisco starting in a total of 28 while notching three goals and two assists over two seasons with the Dons.

“I chose OCSC because the club and players have high standards and it is an elite environment,” Chattha said. “I am happy to be a part of a championship winning team. I hope to have a great rookie season and contribute as much I can for the team, the fans and help the team win another championship. I’m excited for this upcoming season.”

Chattha cemented his spot with OCSC after an impressive trial period with the club which included his first professional appearance with the Black and Orange’s international friendly against Hamburger SV. Chattha’s “composure and courage on the ball” was one of the aspects of the rookie’s game that caught the eye of OCSC Sporting Director Peter Nugent who expects those aspects to carry over to league play while adding to the “dimension of (our) midfield”.
