Speculation that the University of Oklahoma moving to the Pac 12 conference has been pretty prevalent the past couple weeks ever since it was announced that Texas A&M would be leaving the Big 12.

That potential move however seems to be far apart as Oklahoma officials are still concerned about the overall stability of their other athletic programs.

“There is strong interest within the leadership of Oklahoma about the Pac-12, really strong, but to characterize it as already (having) been done, well, that’s going too far,” said the source. “It is fair to say there is strong interest, but that doesn’t mean the Big 12 is not an option anymore. The concern is long-term stability.”

Texas continues to have meetings with Oklahoma presumably too try to convince them to stay in the fledgling Big 12. Texas seems convinced though that Oklahoma will eventually make the jump over to the Pac 12.

“They want to go. We’d like for them to stay. It was disappointing,” a Texas source confirmed to ESPN.

There currently is no timetable on Oklahoma striking a deal to move to the Pac 12 although this is something that can change within the next couple of weeks.
