Scumbag New York Cosmos defender Emmanuele Sembroni was sent off the pitch Friday night and issued a red card in a match against New Amsterdam FC when he was caught stomping the head of NAFC’s Daniel Vicente in the 57th minute of what eventually turned out to be a 3-1 Cosmos win.

Video of the incident was captured on the MyCujoo stream which could eventually lead to further disciplinary action by NISA after they review the footage.

The Cosmos released a statement via Twitter in regards to the incident stating that the stomping incident “is not consistent with the values of the club” and that they “will not appeal any decision made by the NISA disciplinary committee”.

Vicente, who scored the lone goal for NAFC Friday night was treated by medical staff on the pitch before being carted off. Pictures of Vicente’s head injury are pretty gruesome to say the least.

As far as Sembroni goes, it seems like at the very least he’ll be suspended for the Cosmos’ match next weekend against the Detroit City FC. Nonetheless, this seems like a perfect opportunity for NISA to make an example out of the New York defender and simply kick him out of the League.

Soccer itself has had a gloomy past for on and off-field incidents. NISA’s actions, whatever they may be will either help set a standard or continue to condone to some extent gross shit like this.
