After the NHLPA didn’t bite on the league’s latest offer of a 50/50 split in all hockey related revenue, the NHL cancelled regular season games through November 1st.

The league is still hoping that something could be worked out in order to have a full 82 game schedule that would start November 2nd however those ambitions are looking bleak at this point.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman called the latest meeting of negotiations “disappointing” and a “step backwards”.

The NHLPA offered the league three counter proposals after receiving the 50/50 proposal. The NHL however quickly shot down all three offers and broke off talks after a little more than an hour.
