There’s more evidence that has been released today in regards to Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera and his February arrest for DUI and resisting arrest. According to a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s report that was first posted on the website thesmokinggun.com, Cabrera not only shouted expletives to deputies, when he was asked to drop to his knees to be handcuffed he shouted “Fucking shoot me, kill me”.

Furthermore, according to thesmokinggun.com and the Sheriff’s report Cabrera also stated, “Fuck you. Do you know who I am? I’m Miguel Cabrera, I play for the Detroit Tigers, you don’t know my family.”

Unfortunately it get’s even more bizzarre and disturbing. A document containing the statement from bar manager Fletcher Nail of Cowboys Bar-B-Q & Steak Co. recounts the hours leading up to Cabrera’s arrest.

Here is an excerpt…

Nail said that Cabrera “leaned down close to my face” and said, “I will kill you.” Nail added that the ballplayer looked around the bar and added, “I know all of you, and I will kill all of you and blow this place up.” Another witness, a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission agent, told investigators that Cabrera threatened him and Nail “by saying he had a gun in his bag for us.”

FOXSports.com also announced today that former Major League outfielder Raul Gonzalez will work with Cabrera as his sober buddy this season. FOXSports.com said the Tigers confirmed Gonzalez’s appointment but offered few specifics, citing health privacy laws.

Tigers team president Dave Dombrowski said Gonzalez was recommended by Cabrera’s agents at SFX Baseball, Fernando Cuza and Diego Bentz.

“They knew him, and knew him well, and thought he would be a good person,” Dombrowski said. “They wanted us to meet him. Miguel had never met him until that took place.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about him throughout his career, as far as a person. When I met him, I was very impressed. He’s a quality individual.”

Gonzalez, 37 will be Cabrera’s sole companion under the program outlined by Major League Baseball and will be with Cabrera for the entire season.
