Thereโ€™s more evidence that has been released today in regards to Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera and his February arrest for DUI and resisting arrest. According to a St. Lucie County Sheriffโ€™s report that was first posted on the website thesmokinggun.com, Cabrera not only shouted expletives to deputies, when he was asked to drop to his knees to be handcuffed he shouted โ€œFucking shoot me, kill meโ€.

Furthermore, according to thesmokinggun.com and the Sheriffโ€™s report Cabrera also stated, โ€œFuck you. Do you know who I am? Iโ€™m Miguel Cabrera, I play for the Detroit Tigers, you donโ€™t know my family.โ€

Unfortunately it getโ€™s even more bizzarre and disturbing. A document containing the statement from bar manager Fletcher Nail of Cowboys Bar-B-Q & Steak Co. recounts the hours leading up to Cabreraโ€™s arrest.

Here is an excerptโ€ฆ

Nail said that Cabrera โ€œleaned down close to my faceโ€ and said, โ€œI will kill you.โ€ Nail added that the ballplayer looked around the bar and added, โ€œI know all of you, and I will kill all of you and blow this place up.โ€ Another witness, a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission agent, told investigators that Cabrera threatened him and Nail โ€œby saying he had a gun in his bag for us.โ€

FOXSports.com also announced today that former Major League outfielder Raul Gonzalez will work with Cabrera as his sober buddy this season. FOXSports.com said the Tigers confirmed Gonzalezโ€™s appointment but offered few specifics, citing health privacy laws.

Tigers team president Dave Dombrowski said Gonzalez was recommended by Cabreraโ€™s agents at SFX Baseball, Fernando Cuza and Diego Bentz.

โ€œThey knew him, and knew him well, and thought he would be a good person,โ€ Dombrowski said. โ€œThey wanted us to meet him. Miguel had never met him until that took place.

โ€œIโ€™ve heard a lot of good things about him throughout his career, as far as a person. When I met him, I was very impressed. Heโ€™s a quality individual.โ€

Gonzalez, 37 will be Cabreraโ€™s sole companion under the program outlined by Major League Baseball and will be with Cabrera for the entire season.
