The biggest free agent catch this NFL offseason, Ndamukong Suh was finally introduced to the Miami media Wednesday after signing his record breaking 6-year, $114M deal with $60M of that guaranteed money. Whether or not the now former Lions defensive tackle lives up to that contract, there was plenty to take from today’s press conference in South Beach:

Miami vice president Mike Tannenbaum reconfirmed that he feels comfortable with the long-term cap hit of Suh’s deal. No matter which way you slice it though that’s a lot of money and quite the cap hit for a defensive tackle.

Lions fans may speak differently now but Suh was the most dangerous player on that Detroit defense throughout his entire tenure in Motown. The three-time All Pro defensive tackle is looking to still be that same dangerous player in Miami while also becoming the cornerstone of that franchise. Again, I’m not sure how much success can be had building your team around an interior defensive lineman.

Somehow with the way he handled his agent dilema last offseason I doubt this is really that true…

Unfortunately for Suh how he acts on the field and off are two totally different things in his case. He’s displayed on many occasion that his emotions will often times get the better of him. At this point for him, the Dolphins organization, their fans and the rest of the NFL whether or not Suh can control himself and begin to start a new in South Beach is at a shut up and show me stage.
