In the midst of plenty of bad news and negative press, Ohio State received good news from the NCAA.

On Friday, the NCAA announced that they will not hit the university with lack of institutional control charges over the memorabilia-for-cash and tattoos scandal that cost football coach Jim Tressel his job.

Furthermore, NCAA investigators notified Ohio State that no new violations were found in their investigations and that they will not cite the school for failing to monitor their football program.
In a report first brought forth by the Columbus Dispatch, the letter by the NCAA also stated that former football coach Jim Tressel was the only University official who knew of the violations by the players. Tressel would later fail to reveal any of these violations to NCAA officials.
Tressel eventually resigned from his position this past May after Ohio State discovered emails revealing that Tressel was warned about player involvement with a Columbus tattoo parlor owner back in April of 2010.
