The NCAA notified both U-M and Western Michigan University that they would recognize the record but not the statistics of the weather-shortened opener from the Big House last Saturday. The NCAA stats that the statistics would’ve been recognized if the third quarter was completed.
Michigan ended up winning the opener 34-10 however the game was called with 1:27 left in the third quarter due to severe weather moving through the Ann Arbor area. The NCAA would have recognized the statistics if the third quarter was completed.
Michigan and the Big Ten as well as Western Michigan and the Mid American Conference have decided to keep the statistics as part of their records for this season.
