Michigan State Junior Korie Lucious has been dismissed from the basketball team for an unspecified violation of team rules. This is according to David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press.
“Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program,” head coach Tom Izzo said in a prepared statement, released by the Michigan State sports information department. “My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season.”
Lucious, in the same statement, was quoted as saying that he “didn’t live up to the standards of the program.”
“Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the season,” he was quoted as saying.
According to Mayo and the original press release, there will be no additional comment on the matter.
A Junior from Milwaukee, Lucious has been an important piece of Michigan State’s rotation this season. It seems like this is another bump in the road in what has become a somewhat turbulent season for the Spartans so far.
